In Greek mythology, Pyrrha (daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus) and Deucalion (son of Prometheus and Clymene) were the last two surviving humans after the Great Deluge. The Great Deluge was a worldwide flood to end the Bronze age because Zeus was angry with the humans lack of respect so he wiped them out. Before this happened however, Prometheus, who has the gift of foresight, warned Pyrrha and Deucalion of what was to come and told them to build an ark. When the flood was over, they landed on the top of Mount Parnassus, which was the only piece of land not drowned in the flood. After they survived, they sought out an Oracle on how to revive the human race and they were told to throw the bones of their mother behind their backs as they walked. The bones meaning rock and mother meaning earth (Gaea). The rocks that deucalion threw became men while the rocks that Pyrrha threw became women.
